Rare Bird Alert
Posted by: Bob @ 1:27 pm

Got several calls this morning, from San Diego birder BJ Stacey, that they found a LITTLE BLUE HERON and a BLUE-FOOTED BOOBY at the Salton Sea near Obsidian Butte. The Heron was on the northeast side of Obsidian Butte and the Boobie was along the seawall between the north deadend of Lack Road and Obsidian Butte.

The Booby is an immature bird so do not go expecting to see brilliant blue feet! The Heron appears to be a late record from my preliminary research.

Obsidian Butte can be reached by going west on either Lindsey or McKindrey Roads just south of Sinclair Road.
